Mackie Portes et Fenêtres offers additional coverage in the following cases:

Door panels

Mackie Portes et Fenêtres guarantees its light-coloured garage door panels for a period of twenty-five (25) years. Installing a door in a dark colour reduces the guarantee to a period of fifteen (15) years. The door panel warranty is effective as of the production date written on the door sections.

Hardware

Mackie Portes et Fenêtres guarantees its residential garage door hardware against manufacturing defects for a period of five (5) years. The hardware warranty is effective as of the date of purchase through an authorized retailer.

Sealed glass panes

Mackie Portes et Fenêtres guarantees its sealed glass panes on residential garage doors in normal conditions of use, for a period of ten (10) years, against the formation of a film or buildup of dust on internal surfaces of the sealed unit caused by a defect in the seal, resulting in obvious visual obstruction. The sealed glass pane warranty is effective as of the date of purchase through an authorized retailer.

Non-standard paint

Mackie Portes et Fenêtres guarantees any paint colour outside its standard palette offering, for a period of one (1) year from the date of application, against surface cracking, chipping or blistering.

Maintenance

Mackie Portes et Fenêtres recommends the following garage door maintenance program to ensure smooth operation for years to come. You may want to hire a qualified installer to perform an annual inspection.

DOOR SURFACE:

  • Clean your door at least once a year using a car brush and mild detergent.
  • Avoid heavy-duty cleaning products, which might damage the paint.
  • Apply a layer of car wax to achieve a lustrous shine for easier maintenance.

WEATHERSTRIPPING AND PANELS:

  • Wash with a mild detergent to preserve appearance and mobility.
  • Lubricate at least twice a year with a silicone-based lubricant. (CAUTION: Never use a petroleum-based lubricant.)

HARDWARE:

  • Lubricate all moving parts twice a year (rollers, hinges, sheaves, springs and locking mechanisms) with motor oil (i.e., 10W30).
  • Check integrity of hinges, rollers, bolts and tracks.
  • If you spot an irregularity, contact a garage door installation and repair specialist immediately.

ELECTRIC OPENER:

  • Check your opener on a quarterly basis
  • Operate the door manually and check that it is perfectly balanced. If it is lopsided or stiff, contact a garage door installation and repair specialist immediately.
  • Check security detectors. The garage door must reverse course immediately if an object or person is in its path. If you spot an irregularity, contact a garage door installation and repair specialist immediately.

IMPORTANT:
It is crucial to perform recommended garage door maintenance tasks for smooth operation for years to come. You can also hire a qualified installer for an annual inspection.

Note that, for your own safety, you should never attempt to adjust springs, bottom hinges or lift cables yourself. Contact a qualified Mackie Portes et Fenêtres installer.
